Ceasefire violations by Pak troops derail peace in Jammu region
4/5/2018 10:32:58 PM
Apart from the activities of militants, which derail peace in Jammu and Kashmir ceasefire violations on the LoC and on the IB add to the disturb security scenario in the state. In fact during the last three years militancy related incidents of violence in the Jammu region have declined but regular ceasefire violations on he IB, between Akhnoor and Kathua including Samba, R.S. Pura and Suchetgarh, derail peace in Jammu. And the way border conflict has been made violent in Poonch and Rajouri sectors add to the problems of people. And at time the Border Action Team (BAT) a wing of the Pakistan Army has violated ceasefire agreement in Poonch and Mendhar in which one Indian soldier was killed and four others including an officer injured in suspected Border Action Team (BAT) attack by Pakistani troops along the Line of Control (LoC) in Krishna Ghati (KG) sector of Poonch district the other day. And surprisingly those who start breast beating over the killing of militants keep mum when reports surface about the killing of Indian soldiers in Pakistani Army ceasefire violations. Yes if the militants enjoy killing of Indian soldiers or even the separatists feel satisfied over the loss of lives on the border ceasefire violations it is but natural. But the way majority of people do not even shed crocodile tears over the loss of lives of soldiers.
Pakistani troops breached border ceasefire and resorted to unprovoked firing and mortar shelling on army positions in KG sector in Poonch at 7.15 am. The army men deployed along the LoC strongly and effectively returned the fire During the exchange of fire, a BAT team already waiting near fence reportedly attacked the army border outpost and inflicted severe injuries to army men including an officer,.
The injured army men , were airlifted to army hospital at Udhampur. One of the critically injured trooper identified as Sepoy Mastpuray Subham succumbed to injuries in the hospital Heavy shelling continued for about an hour. "However, intermittent fire continued till afternoon." The killing of army man and injuries to four others in reported BAT attack has once again increased tension along the LoC in the State. There has been a surge in border ceasefire violations this year. With the killing of the army man, the death toll of army man and civilians killed in cross-border firing in the State has risen to 27. And when the Indian troops retaliate with force and fury Islamabad cries foul and blames the Indian troops for violating the ceasefire agreement. As far as the Indian troops are concerned they have been told to retaliate wherever and whenever Pakistani troops violate ceasefire agreement. They (India troops) have not been told to violated ceasefire agreement.
Despite this instruction Pakistani troops rake up the issue of India troops' violating the ceasefire which has added to the border conflict and still Pakistan wishes for resumption of bilateral dialogue to settle the Kashmir issue. As if between India and Pakistan the only issue that needs to be settled is the Kashmir issue. And what about the Indus Water Treaty, Sir Creek and Siachen? Pakistan is not bothered about these issues because Islamabad believes that once Pakistan was able to incorporate Kashmir with Pakistan all other issues would get settled. And India is not going to accept any dictation from Pakistan especially the one that Islamabad insists on the implementation of the UN resolutions alone. But the cat is out of the bag. And the Joint Resistance Leadership of separatists in Kashmir too want India to grant right of self-determination to people of Jammu and Kashmir without realising that Pakistan had cheated these separatists by not accepting to implement the major part of the UN resolution under which Pakistan had to withdraw its forces from Pakistan Occupied Kashmir. India is prepared to reopen the channels of dialogue once Pakistan stopped exporting terror to India, and particularly to Jammu and Kashmir.
