JAMMU, Apr 7: Justice Sanjeev Kumar of High Court (Jammu Wing) today issued notices to Munir Khan Additional Director General of Police (Security) and Ashok Kumar Sharma, Senior Superintendent of Police (Security) Jammu in a contempt petition alleging violation of the directions passed by the Court on April, 5, 2018.
Interim directions had been issued to the police functionaries including ADGP (Security) and SSP (Security) Jammu to maintain status quo with regard to the security of the petitioner till next date of hearing i.e. May, 10, 2018. These notices were issued in a contempt petition filed by Taranjit Singh Tony a Social/Political Activist who had earlier filed a writ petition seeking directions to the police functionaries for not withdrawing his security cover.
The petitioner appeared in person today in the Court and submitted that despite the status quo order passed by the Court in his favour on April, 5, 2018 the two PSOs attached with him have been withdrawn in the wee hours of April, 7, 2018.
The petitioner further submitted that he personally served the orders of the State High Court upon SSP (Security) Jammu and he was assured by the said officer that his security will not be withdrawn.
The petitioner further submitted that on April, 6, 2018 he personally met Director General of Police J&K who also assured that directions of the Court will be fully implemented and the petitioner was further advised to meet ADGP (Security).
The petitioner also submitted that he met ADGP (Security) and apprised him about the directions of the Court. The petitioner also submitted that the directions of the Court had also been forwarded to ADGP (Security) on his Whatsapp. |
