Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 7: In Jammu University, under the tenure of Vice-Chancellor Prof R D Sharma, unfair activities have not alone shown an increase but they are being encouraged.
For example, the incharge of Secrecy Cell went unpunished for the recent paper leak. In other bizarre incident, the promotion case of Section Officer, as Assistant Director, has been placed before University Syndicate meeting, scheduled to be held on April 17.
Sources in the JU informed Early Times that Paper-B, English for third was leaked a day before the exam was scheduled. "Instead of immediately taking action against, incharge of the Secrecy Cell, the administration saved him as he happens to be a close relative of the VC", sources said.
"The Joint Controller, Examination, and incharge Secrecy Cell, Ashwani Padha is a close relative of the VC", sources said and added that the VC was advised by the senior professors to hand over the matter to Crime Branch, but the administration preferred to sit on the case to save Padha.
"Padha is holding the same post for last 15 years. It raises eyebrows", sources said and added that the exam was scheduled on April 2, but the paper got leaked on April 1.
They said that university's statutes are now likely to be amended for appointment of Assistant Director DIQA. "As per existing rules, there are three posts of AD, DIQA and are filled thorough direct recruitment. But the rule is being amended and only two posts will be filled through direct recruitment", sources said and added that a SO would be elevated as AD after amendment.
