Directorate of Agriculture organizes CFM meeting

Jammu, Apr 7: A one day Consultative Forum Members meeting under CABI's Plant wise Programme was conducted at Directorate of Agriculture at Jammu. The programme has jointly been organized by Department of Agriculture, Jammu and Centre for Agricultural Bioscience International (CABI), South Asia.
Speaking at the inaugural session Hari Krishan Razdan, Director Agriculture, Jammu said that there is need to monitor the ongoing Plant Clinics effectively by the officers of the department to mitigate the plant insect pests and disease problems. He impressed upon the officers of department and CABI to organize the training of the Plant Doctors to update knowledge about various aspects of the pest data management including collection, entry, online validation, analysis and use of data. He emphasized that there is need to train second line of Plant Doctors to enhance their skills on handling and managing data which shall be very useful to forecast the pest incidence and take preventive measures to advise the farmers. The programme team from Directorate of Agriculture and CABI presented the achievements of year 2017 that included establishment of 16 Plant Clinics in three districts namely Jammu, Kathua and Samba of Jammu and Kashmir State. These clinics are backed with Tablets and USB Microscopes to operate under ICT system for quick and readily available advisory platform.
