The hills of North India: Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand receive fair amount of rainfall during the month of April. However, the quantity of rainfall observed by Jammu & Kashmir is much more amongst all three.Generally, in the month of April, Jammu & Kashmir records 97.5 mm of rains, followed by Himachal Pradesh that records 65 mm of rains, while Uttarakhand records the least with 33 mm of rains. This year, during the first few days of the month, only Jammu & Kashmir recorded some scattered rain activities while the other two have remained dry so far.Due to the absence of rains, the day temperatures in most parts of the state had increased significantly and settled few notches above the normal.
Currently, due to the approaching Western Disturbance as an upper air system one after another in quick succession over the Western Himalayas, moderate rain and thundershowers with squally winds are likely to effect at many places over parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
These weather activities are likely to effect between April 9 to April 11, though the rain activity will continue to effect thereafter but intensity of rain is likely to reduce.
In the last 24 hours, from 08:30 am on Saturday, Dharamshala recorded 8.8 mm of rain, followed by Shimla 2 mm, Almora 13.2 mm, Mukteshwar 18.4 mm, Mussoire 11.4 mm, Nainital 4.5 mm, Tehri 9.6 mm, Mandi 10 mm.
As per Skymet Weather, today rains are likely over the state of Jammu and Kashmir. The sky conditions are expected to remain cloudy. Day temperatures will increase, and night temperatures will also be seen increasing slightly, despite rain and thundershower activities. |
