Early Times Report

Poonch, Apr 8: Around forty thousand people living around the 33 km along Sakhi Maidaan-Kalai Road are awaiting completion of a road for the past forty years. The residents said for the last forty years, the construction work of bakhi Maidan- Kalai road had not been completed despite drawing hefty sums for its completion.
Only 19 kms of the road have been black topped in the past seven years. The remaining part of the road has been left as such for reasons best known to the authorities.
The locals said that the entire road was in dilapidated condition and has developed cracks and potholes. "The road would have benefited forty thousand people of the area but the authorities seem indifferent to their sufferings," they said.
While talking to Early Times, a social activist of Kalaban Nisar Cheche said that the road is neglected by the department and no work is being done to complete the road.
Meanwhile AEE Public Works Department sub division Mendhar when contacted told Early Times that the project has been already submitted to government for consideration and right now we have no funds.
"As soon as the funds are made available for the road the work will be completed," he added.
