NSUI questions admission process in Presentation Convent School
4/19/2018 10:50:39 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 19: The National Students Union of India has questioned the admission process in the St. Mary's Presentation Convent High Secondary School, Gandhi Nagar ,Jammu. Addressing a press conference at the Congress Party Head Quarters NSUI National Secretary Neeraj Kundan said," There is no transparency in the admission process of the "ManjuSree" , Kinder Garten in the Convent School. The form issued by the school management has been divided into various categories with points for each but the school list of selected students does not carry any marks cut off. Many parents who are sure of their wards making it as per the laid down criteria do not make it to the final list . The school above all makes backdoor admissions of the wards of influential parents thus making mockery of the whole process and playing with the future of the genuine students. He demanded that the point wise lists of all the applicants for the last three years be made public by the School. Neeraj Kundan also questioned the basic criteria on the form that asks for the Designation, trade. Service, present job of the parents and their qualification. Higher the status and qualification more are the points and hence more chances of a child making it to the list thus making it an elitest group. Going by this logic no poor or middleclass parent or semiliterate parent can ever dream of getting their child admitted in Convent school ," Neeraj lamented.
