Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 19: The Peoples Democratic Party after coming into power has completely forgotten the issues which it used to raise when it was in the Opposition.
When National Conference led government blocked the internet in 2012 in Kashmir the PDP raised hue and cry over the issue. "The young boys and girls use internet to stay connected and express themselves. Instead of coming on streets if they express themselves on internet, it should be encouraged," the then leader of Opposition Mehbooba Mufti had told the Legislative Assembly.
An analyst while talking to Early Times said, "Since the day PDP has taken over the reins of the state it has blocked the internet again and again."
Recently government blocked the mobile internet in Jammu for more than 24-hours soon after a sacrilegious act was reported in Jammu outskirts. People of Jammu, Samba and Kathua districts were left guessing when the government suspended internet services in these districts.
A politician said, "It's unfortunate that PDP after coming into the power completely forgot about the commitments it had made to people. Many people across J&K had supported the PDP and BJP with a hope that both these parties would bring the change. Nothing has changed on the ground and both the parties have followed the footsteps of their predecessors."
An observer said, "PDP not sticking to its promises has disillusioned many of its supporters and even friends. It seems that PDP leaders have forgotten that they have to face the electorate once again."
He said, "It's not about blocking internet only. PDP has completely forgotten the promises it had made to the people of Jammu region. Its policies have been Kashmir centric. The party has ignored Jammu completely. PDP leaders only talk about Kashmir and behave as if Jammu doesn't exist."
The observer said that people in Jammu have lost faith over PDP-BJP regime and are waiting for a chance to teach both these parties a lesson. "There has been lot of difference between their Kathni and Karni," he said, "If people of Jammu raise their voice PDP leaders immediately label them as communal. It's really unfortunate."
