Geelani, PDP maintain silence over alleged involvement of lawmaker
Kulgam Sex Scandal
4/20/2018 12:29:38 AM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 19: Hurriyat hawk Syed Ali Shah Geelani has once again proved that he only knows how to dance to the tunes of his masters sitting across the Line of Control and has nothing to do with the daughters of Kashmir.
The Hurriyat hawk did not issue a single statement to condemn the sexploitation of a teenage Kulgam girl, who was exploited by some politicians and police officers.
Sources told Early Times that the PDP leader who was named by the victim is believed to be close to Geelani and enjoys his "ashirward." "There are even speculations that Geelani in 2014 assembly polls had asked his supporters to vote for the PDP leader, whom the victim exposed," they alleged.
An analyst said, "Geelani's silence over the issue is intriguing. It's believed that the PDP leader in question had played a pivotal role in saving the sons of the hawk from the National Investigating Agency."
He said, "On the other hand PDP too has maintained silence over the issue and has taken no action against their leader, who was named by the victim."
The Kulgam sex scandal, first reported by Early Times on February 3 has not been yet charge-sheeted by Kulgam police.
The victim in a fresh statement to a New Delhi-based media outlet has alleged that a police officer asked her to drop the name of a PDP legislator from south Kashmir "as naming him will create 'hangama' (uproar)."
The girl had also alleged that she wasn't taken to identify police officials and politicians involved in the flesh trade.
As reported earlier, the investigation by the police into Kulgam sex scandal, that surfaced two months ago, is moving at a snail's pace.
A Special Investigative Team (SIT) constituted by SSP Kulgam in February hasn't yet submitted its report. According to sources, the SIT continued to probe the case, but it had not done any credible exercise to establish the involvement of politicians and police officers in the sex racket as claimed by the victim.
The victim girl from Kulgam in South Kashmir has alleged that she was sexually exploited by some influential people and that there exists a big sex racket that has connections within and outside the Valley.
Her revelations in a video clip went viral on social media. The girl had said that she was lured into the racket by some locals and later handed over to the pimps who were operating with the help of top men in politics and police.
She said that the sex ring was operating under the patronage of politicians and bureaucrats. The girl claimed that pimp of the racket, currently in custody, was in touch with the PDP lawmaker.
