| Vested interests lock ZEO office at Doongi | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, Apr 22: Vested interests locked ZEO office at Doongi in Rajouri district when they were shifting the office to a nearby location.
The ZEO office was operating from a rented building. Some primary schools in the vicinity were closed down recently for poor enrolment. The authorities decided to shift the ZEO office to one such accommodation.
Recently ,Bishamber Dass, principal took over the charge of ZEO, Doongi and under the orders of Chief Education Officer the work to shift the ZEO office was taken in hand.
"The process was started to shift the office and after maximum record was shifted some locals locked the rented accommodation with an active support of a clerk of the ZEO office .
"Most of the record was shifted when two former sarpanches along with some locals hampered the shifting process and locked the office (rented accommodation) with some documents remaining behind," locals said.
The people alleged that the illegal locking of the office created many problems in the routine functioning of the ZEO, Doongi office and even many teachers didn't get their salary.
Refuting the allegations that the salary of the teachers was withheld, senior district officer said that on April 20, CEO, Ch Lal Hussain visited the office and salary of all the permanent teachers falling under the jurisdiction of Doongi Education Block was released.
He added salaries of few Regular ReT teachers have been delayed because their grant was received in the last week of March.
"CEO has also taken the remaining record in favor of ReT teachers and also processed their bills. Action is being taken against an erring clerk for his involvement and against few former sarpanches for locking the office," said Dr Shahid Iqbal , DDC. |
