Despite spending Rs 230 cr, SS Hospitals struggle for survival

JAMMU, Apr 22: Forget All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), the existing Super Specialty Hospitals in Jammu and Srinagar, despite spending Rs 230 crores under Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY), have been reeling under huge staff crunch as 51 posts in Jammu and 85 posts in Srinagar were lying vacant since their inception.
A copy of Manpower Audit Report of the Health & Medical Education Department-22-03-2018, in the possession of Early Times, states that there are 15 posts of Professors in the Super Specialty Hospital Jammu out of which only 1 in CVTS (Dr. Noor Ali) is in position and the remaining 14 are vacant, 16 posts (now 15) of Associate Professors, out of which only 2 are filled (1 Nephrology by Dr. SK Bali thru Lateral Entry and 1 in Cardiology by Dr. Sushil Kumar Sharma). One post of Associate Professor (Cardio-Vascular & Thoracic Surgery) has been reduced to create 1 post of Assistant Professor in the same discipline vide G.O. 197 - HME of 2018 dated 22-03-2018.
The findings also state that there are 16 (now 17) posts of Assistant Professors out of which only 7 are filled (1 in Neurosurgery by Dr. Haroon Salaria, 1 in Urology by Dr. Elias Sharma, 1 in CVTS by Dr. Ishtiyaq Ahmed Mir, 1 in Cardiology by Dr. Dharminder Kumar and 1 in Pediatric Surgery by Dr. Narinder Singh), 21 Posts of Lecturers in the SSH Jammu out of which only 6 (now 7) posts have been filled_1 in Plastic Surgery (Dr. Suhail Zahoor)_ 1 in Neurosurgery Dr. Furkan Ahmed Nazmi, 1 in Neurology Dr B.R. Kundal i/c Asstt Professor, 1 in Nephrology Dr. Imtiyaz Ahmad Wani, 1 in CVTS Dr. Arvind Kohli, 1 in Cardiology Dr. Raj Lal Bhagat and the remaining 15 Posts of Lecturers in the various disciplines of the SSH Jammu are vacant which have been referred to the J&K Public Service Commission. Dr. Mohammad Hussain has been appointed as Lecturer (Medical Oncology) SSHJ vide G.O. 198-HME of 2018 dated 22-03-2018.
Similarly, in Srinagar, out of 14 Posts of Professors, only 1 is filled by Dr. Showkat Kadla in the discipline of Gastroenterology and the remaining 13 are vacant, there are 16 posts of Associate Professors in SSH Srinagar out of which none is filled, 26 posts of Assistant Professors in SSH Srinagar out of which only 6 are filled (1 in Neurosurgery Dr. Syed Shafiq Alam, Paediatric Surgery Dr. Abdul Rashid Kumhar, Neurology Dr. Syed Sajad Nazir, 3 Cardiology Dr. Khalid Mohiuddin, Dr. Bashir Ahmad Naikoo, Dr. Nazir Ahmad Lone). 50 Lecturers' posts, out of which only 12 are filled (Neurosurgery Dr. Humam Nisar, 2 CVTS Dr. Mohit Arora (working in the SSH Jammu on deputation), Dr. Ishtiyak Ahmed Mir, Urology Dr. Tanveer Iqbal, NephrologyDr. Tajamul Hussain, 3 in Neurology Dr. Bashir Ahmed Sanaiye i/c *Assistant Professor, Dr. Fayaz Ahmed Khan, Dr. Bodh Raj, 4 in Pediatrics Specialty, Paediatric Ophthalmologist Dr. Tufela Shafi, Paediatric Haematologist Dr. Altaf Ahmad Kambay and Paediatric Nephrologist Dr. Mohammad
