JKNPP seeks CBI probe in Rassana case
5/2/2018 10:44:26 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, May 2: With new revelations coming to fore through investigative journalism by a national media that one of the prime accused in the infamous Kathua child homicide case was in Muzzafar Nagar in UP on the fateful day when the said accused according to the charge sheet filed by the Crime Branch of J&K Police in the District court had abandoned the corpse of the child victim in the Rassana forests, the case has taken a new twist altogether. The justification of the people's demand for CBI probe gets further weight, said Harsh Dev Singh Chairman JKNPP and former Minister. He was addressing a press conference in Jammu today.
Addressing the media, Harsh Dev Singh said that the new media report had raised millions of eyebrows and instilled doubts among the people regarding the credibility of the Crime Branch in dealing with the Rassana murder case. He said that as per the CCTV footage shown by the national media, one of the prime accused in the murder of the girl child was in Meerut and found doing a transaction in a ATM on the same day which had been mentioned in the charge sheet filed by CB, during which the said accused along with a juvenile had disposed the dead body of the victim in the Rassana forests.
"How a person on the same day and almost at the same time could be present at two places which are around 600 kms from each other?", questioned Harsh. Mr. Singh further said that in view of the said video footage and moreover, with the credentials of the two officers constituting SIT being doubtful, the findings of such a committee surely become questionable. "Why should the govt opt for officers of disputable antecedents for probing a sensitive issue which had international connotations and what will be the authenticity of the findings of a committee comprising tainted officers?", asked Harsh.
Lambasting the BJP leaders for taking incongruous stands at different occasions depending upon their political convenience, Harsh Dev Singh regretted that not only had they toed the PDP line over the issue but accused their own electorates of being communal besides levelling accusations of supporting rapists and criminals.
"And all this notwithstanding the unequivocal stand of the people of Jammu for capital punishment to those actually involved in the heinous offence", said Harsh. Accusing the Saffron Party of brazenly defying the collective sentiments of the people of Jammu region, Singh said that such outrageous conduct on the part of saffron leaders would leave a permanent scar on their hearts and minds. He said that Panthers Party would continue its campaign for CBI probe and agitate in New Delhi at Jantar-Mantar and outside Parliament for justice to the Rassana child victim from 4th May onwards.
