Early Times Report

Jammu, May 4: A daughter of a PDP worker has been denied a seat in General Nursing Midwifery (GNM) training despite having recommendation letters of the party legislators and requests made to the Minister for Health.
Ghulam Qadir Malik, PDP's block president in Bharath, Doda, said that his daughter Mehnaz Akhter had passed her higher secondary in Science stream during session 2013-14. Since then she has been struggling to get a seat in GNM at AMT School Jammu.
"Belonging to an economically poor and backward area, we made a representation to the Governor as the coalition government was yet to be formed.
Our case was put up for nomination, but the order was not issued as all powers were shifted to new coalition government. But since then we don't know what happened to our nomination," said Malik.
Disappointed over the attitude of the concerned officials, Malik finally met with MoS Health, Asiea Naqash, at various occasions. She recommended the case with remarks to get the name of the aspirant enlisted for the nomination of GNM course for the session 2017-18 or 2018-19.
Till date nothing has been done, though.
The case for nomination was recommended by MLC Kishtwar Firdous Tak through DO letter and the then MLA Shakti Raj Parihar, District President PDP Doda Shahab-ul-Haq. "We also called on Minister for Health, but they ignored our genuine case, Malik said.
He appealed Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to look into the case and issue directions in this regard.
