Scheduled meeting between DGMOs fail to end Pak ceasefire violations
5/9/2018 9:24:52 PM
Even a scheduled meeting between the Director General Military operations of India and his Pakistani counterpart proved of no use in preventing Pakistani troops from resorting to series of ceasefire violations. Ceasefire violations continue from Pakistan side during the last three years and after the entire International Border in Jammu sector was robbed of peace owing to consistent ceasefire violations. Later various sector on the LoC were affected by series of ceasefire violations. Poonch, Rajouri, Uri and Kupwara have been on the top of ceasefire violations by Pakistani troops and now is the turn of keran sector where one civilian was injured in ceasefire violation by Pakistan the other day in Jammu and Kashmir's Keran sector.India retaliated to Pakistan's firing from across the Line of Control (LoC). The exchange of firing continued for nearly 45 minutes. This comes a week after Indian Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) Lieutenant General Anil Chauhan and his Pakistani counterpart held an unscheduled hotline interaction on ceasefire violation. During the DGMO-level talk, India stood its ground regarding Pakistan-sponsored terrorism in the Kashmir Valley while the Pakistani DGMO accused Indian security forces of resorting to unprovoked firing along the LoC. In response, General Chauhan emphatically stated that retaliatory firing by Indian troops are carried out only in response to unabated support given by Pakistan Army to armed terrorists, who infiltrate across the border and target Indian Army posts with heavy calibre weapons. Right from the Prime Minister to the Union Home Minister to the Defence Minister these senior ministers have directed the Indian troops to retaliate with force and fury whenever and wherever Pakistani troops resort to ceasefire violations. And the see the role of the UNMOG officials they may not have lodged a complaint to Islamabad against Pakistan's repeated ceasefire violations. Instead of doing so they too accept the Pakistan's claim that the Indian troops have been engaged in repeated ceasefire violations when the truth is the Indian troops retaliate any Pakistani fire that too with force and fury allowing Pakistan an opportunity to show to the UNMOG officials the damaged bunkers, border ouitposts and some huts, inhabited by militants the result of strong Indian retaliation. As far as strong Indian retaliation is concerned India has made it public that the troops have been asked to retaliate with strength each and every ceasefire violation resorted to by the Pakistani troops. It seems funny that even the UN takes cognizance of the retaliatory fire from the Indian troops which causes sufficient damage to the militant hideouts, border outposts and Pakistani bunkers which are displayed on the electronic media. But the UN should have posed one question to Pakistan as to why it has not accepted certain conditions imposed by India ? Had this question been posed to Pakistan the truth could have come out because India has laid down that bilateral talks are possible when Pakistan ends export of terror, winds up arms training camps for militants and initiates strong measures against terrorists of various hues. Instead of doing so Islamabad has been providing moral and material sup port to militants operating in Jammu and Kashmir and has granted political support to anti-India extremists particularly to Hafiz Saeed who seems to be engaged in floating political parties for the purpose of contesting the election. Even the US has cautioned Islamabad against this political support to Saeed who is described by Washington as a terrorist.
