| SKIMS casual workers register mysterious increase | | | Saahil Suhail

Srinagar, May 21, 2018: The number of casual workers working in Sher-I-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Srinagar has mysteriously increased from 179 to 310.
Official documents available with Early Times reveal that the administrative authorities at primer hospital have linked Aadhar of 131 people fraudulently.
They reveal that those 131 people mostly from Pulwama district of South Kashmir have never worked in the hospital.
"Officials at SKIMS inserted the names of some blue-eyed people when Aadhar based skill profiling of Casual labourers was going on," Sources said.
The fraud surfaced a few months ago but no action was taken against the officials who fraudulently made the insertions, they said.
Official sources said that a departmental committee constituted to authenticate the list of genuine Casual labourers was too delaying the process of authentication apparently to favor 131 blue-eyed entrants whose names have surfaced in the list updated by the by Finance Department on its official website in the month of January this year.
The committee, as per the documents was scheduled to hold a meeting in 17th of this month to authenticate the list of genuine Casual labourers but it couldn't as file of workers having 131 frauds entries was again put in the meeting for discussion.
Casual labourers alleged that they were being made to suffer unnecessarily.
"We are working in SKIMS since 1994. According to the rules our services should have been regularised after seven years of casual service but still we are working on casual basis," they said and sought the intervention of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti.
They also demanded action those officers who have made entries in to their list fraudulently and complicated their issue of regularization.
Director SKIMS, Dr Omer Javed Shah on being contacted expressed ignorance about the issue, however assured action. "I don't know about it but I will definitely look into it," he said. |
