Cracks surface in JRL as separatists differ on hartals, Mirwaiz furious
5/21/2018 11:28:19 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, May 21: The cracks in the so called Joint Resistance Leadership have yet again surfaced, in the latest over differences in issuance of hartal calls in Kashmir.
Sources said Hurriyat M Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq who is an important leader of the JRL recently expressed his displeasure over Hurriyat G Chairman Syed Ali Geelani's way of doing things in the conglomerate. Sources said on behalf of the JRL, the Hurriyat G had issued a hartal call against prime minister Narendra Modi's visit to the state but had missed to give strike call for May 21, which coincides with the death anniversary of late Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Farooq who was killed by militants in early 90s.
Sources said his son and successor. Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was shocked to see that the JRL handout had failed to give hartal call on the death anniversary of Molvi Farooq.
Sources said the Mirwaiz subsequently issued a fresh statement on behalf of the JRL and announced that there would be hartal on May 21.
Sources said the Mirwaiz has conveyed to Geelani and Muhammad Yasin Malik who heads the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, that it was disgusting on the part of the JRL leadership to have forgotten strike call on the death anniversary of his father and that the development had "sent a wrong signal among the people of Kashmir."
Sources said it was only after Mirwaiz expressed his displeasure that Geelani released a statement to pay tributes to late Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Farooq.
Sources said for the past few weeks differences have been surfacing quite often in the JRL leadership and that there's no proper consultation even at the time of the issuance of press statements.
"Any one of these three leaders issues statements without proper consultations and this creates confusion," said a source privy to the developments.
It was reliably learnt that JRL may soon call a joint meeting where the three leaders will try to "sort out issues."
"As of now, the cracks have been widening as the leaders are not on the same page," said leader close to the JRL.
