Bizarre! Kishtwar Police registers FIR against family that lost a female member due to medical negligence

KISHTWAR, May 21: After massive protests against the death of a 48 year old Shakeela Begum wife of Mohammad Iqbal Butt resident of Sangrabata Kishtwar due to medical negligence, Kishtwar police late last night register an FIR against five protestors on the charges of blocking the road and unlawful assembly beside assault and hurling abuse on police personal on duty-thus preventing the police officers from performing their duties.
As per the details available with "Early Times" Kishtwar Police register FIR 125/2018 Dated 20-5-2018 U/S 341/353/504/506/147 RPC against Fareed Ahmed son of Abdul Rashid Sheikh, Javed Ahmed son of Abdul Rashid Sheikh, Suhail Ahmed Sheikh son of Mohammad Salaam Sheikh, Najja an employee of NHPC and Zakir Hussain son of Mohammad Iqbal Sheikh all resident of Sangrabata-Kishtwar.
As per the FIR the accused named in the said FIR was involved in allegation of assault on ASI Manhattan Ram and SPO Lekh Raj after they prevent the people from creating hooliganism, besides using abusive language against the police. The FIR stated that police received an information about their was an unlawful assembly of 50/60 people who are protesting against the death of a women due to medical negligence, police party from Police Station Kishtwar led by Sub Inspector Deepak Thakur was deployed for law and order duty when the incident of the allege assault and abuse on the police personal took place followed by the registration of an FIR under relevant section of the law against these five accused.
Villagers of Sangrabata termed it as an attempt of Kishtwar police to muzzle the voices raised by the people in support of the poor lady, a mother of five young daughters who died due to medical negligence of the doctor at District Hospital Kishtwar. They said that it is an unfortunate matter that police instead of registering an FIR against the accused doctor had registered the FIR against peaceful protestors who just stood by the side of poor family who lost a wife, mother and a sister.
They said the doctor involved in heinous crime is roaming free despite committing the crime and is enjoying patronage by the police and the department who fails to initiate meaningful action against him.
Meanwhile Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Angrez Singh Rana order a magisterial probe to be conducted by the Additional Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Kishori Lal Sharma who has been asked to submit the inquiry report within 15 days. The order was issued by CPO Kishtwar on behalf of DC Kishtwar.
In addition to the inquiry ordered by DC Kishtwar, Medical Superintendent District Hospital Kishtwar Dr. Sham Lal Sakolia also submitted a detail preliminary report to Director Health Services Jammu about the whole incident confirming the Dr. Guru Dev Singh Rana, Consultant Surgeon has operated on the deceased lady and called upon the Director to constitute a departmental committee to look into the matter.
The doctor according to the Hospital authorities is unauthorizedly absent from duty and keeping in view of that, Medical Superintendent of the hospital has made alternative arrangements to look for emergency surgeries for which Dr. Sajid Consultant Surgeon has been asked to attend the OPD along with emergency services.
