Anganwari workers stage protest, block road | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 23: Angered over the nonchalant attitude of the Government for not full filling their long pending demands, Anganwadi workers and helpers today blocked the road near Dogra Chowk putting vehicular movement on standstill for an hour. Anganwari workers were sitting on dharna for past one month in support of their demands of hike in honorarium. They raised slogans against the state government for not increasing their honorarium. Addressing the media Anganwari said it has been more than more than one month since they are sitting on strike but till date government has not taken any action to resolve the issue. They warned that their strike will continue until government not will fulfil their demands. They were demanding an increase in honorarium, pension, and medical leave for both workers and helpers. We are also demanding the promotion of employees as per the seniority basis. We are paid rupees 600 rupees from the last 15 years. We are almost 61000 employees and have been demanding justice from the government for our genuine rights. Other demands include fixation of final seniority list, holding departmental promotion committee meeting, implementing new pension scheme, keeping the provision of gratuity, implementing group insurance scheme and issuing two pairs of uniform to Anganwadi workers and helpers. |
