| BJP leaders' guard decamps with service rifle | | |  Mohammad Sarfaraz

Baramulla, May 23: A special police officer (SPO) guard with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader has allegedly fled with his service rifle in Rafiabad constituency of this north Kashmir district on Wednesday.
Sources informed Early Times over phone that, SPO Waseem Ahmad Malla of Shutloo village in Rafiabad area, posted at the guard room of the BJP leader Mohammad Maqbool War at Rohama Rafiabad has been missing since morning along with his service rifle.
It is learnt that besides service rifle, the missing SPO has also taken away some ammunition that was allotted to him, sources said.
Meanwhile senior police from the district headquarter confirmed to ET that, Waseem Ahmad Malla (SPO) security personnel of BJP leader is missing with service rifle from today morning.
He said that a police team has been sent on the spot to find out the missing youth and collect other relevant details that what led him to move out with a service rifle.
"We are investigating whether he has joined militancy. We will come up with a statement shortly," the police official said. |
