Protesting Anganwari workers call 'Beti Bachao Beti Parhao' a farce | | | Early Times Report Rajouri, May 23: Anganwari workers / helpers have termed the famous 'Beti Bachao Beti Parhao' slogan of the union government, mere farce. They organised a protest rally at Dak bunglow in favour of their long pending demands. Aganwari workers are struggling for their rights for the last more than 60 days and alleged that till today the government had taken no steps to address their genuine demands. They are demanding regularization, release of their honorarium pending for last eight months, issuance of final seniority list, implementation of new pension scheme etc. Raising slogans in favour of their demands Aganwari workers/ helpers alleged that the State has a woman Chief Minister and even she has failed to protect the women who after having ' Ramadan Fast' are forced to come on the roads, leaving behind their small children, in the ensuing heat waves. "On one hand PM is talking about "Beti Bachao Beti Phadao' while on the other hands 'Betis' are struggling on the roads for their rights" said a leader of the union. Anganwadi employees criticised the government for failing to enhance their monthly honorarium. They alleged that an Anganwadi worker is getting Rs 3600 per month as honorarium while the helper is getting only Rs1800 which is even below to minimum wage (About Rs 500 per day) of a labourer in private sector. More than 60000 women have been engaged by the state government as Anganwari workers/ helpers. "The minimum wages for Anganwari worker and helper should be Rs 10000 and Rs 6000 respectively so that our economic standard can be raised" said workers. |
