BJP leaders feel the heat, change sides to lure people
6/3/2018 11:24:59 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, June 3: As the state unit of Bharatiya Janata Party is feeling the heat for failing to address the issues which touch the skin of a common man in Jammu, the BJP leaders and ministers are becoming restless.
Sources told Early Times that BJP leaders in Jammu and Kashmir have been asked to come up with a comprehensive plan for 2019 parliamentary polls so that the three seats which the party won in 2014 polls in Jammu region are retained.
"BJP leaders know it very well that resentment is brewing against them in Jammu as they have failed to act as the true representatives of the people. On the other hand these leaders have made big compromises for the sake of power and have allowed Kashmir centric leaders to call the shots," said an analyst.
He said that this time around winning parliamentary polls won't be a cake walk for the BJP leaders. "In 2014 Modi wave had swept the entire country and it was one of the major reasons for BJP winning all the seats in Jammu," the analyst added.
An observer said, "Since the day BJP has come into power in Centre and the State its leaders have disappeared from the scene. These leaders have turned their back towards the masses, who voted for them and brought them into the power."
He said, "As elections are approaching the BJP leaders are recollecting their mistakes and are trying to strike a chord with the people by pretending that they are not subservient to Kashmir centric leaders."
Referring to a news conference which was addressed by the top BJP leaders on Saturday, the observer said, "BJP top brass assembled in Jammu and lashed out at the Kashmiri leaders for criticizing the security forces after a protester was mowed down by the security forces vehicle in Srinagar's Nowhata area."
He said, "BJP leaders suddenly becoming active has not surprised anyone. Everyone in Jammu knows that they are just paper tigers and cannot do anything except indulging in rhetoric."
An analyst said that everyone knows it very well that BJP leaders during the past three years have acted as "second fiddles" of their alliance partner Peoples Democratic Party and has danced to its tunes. "Earlier only state BJP leaders used to dance to the tunes of the PDP now central leadership is also doing the same," he said. "It seems time has run out for the BJP and it would be difficult for the party leaders to make inroads in Jammu region again and retain the seats it had won in 2014."
