PAF stages protest against water crisis

Kishtwar, July 3: Public Awareness Front (PAF) Kishtwar under the presidentship of Shakir Sidiqui today held a strong protest against district administration and PHE Hydraulic Division Kishtwar for non availability of drinking water in town and Mandal area of Kishtwar.
The members of the public awareness front assembled at Dak Banglow Kishtwar and held a protest march towards old DC office complex raising the slogans demanding proper drinking water facilities for the people of Kishtwar town and it's peripheral areas. While addressing the gathering Shakir Siddiqui, President (PAF) highlighted the issue are facing drastic scarcity of drinking water and taps are running dry for months together and district administration is in deep slumber despite repeated requests.
He said that Naigad water scheme is becoming money minting machine for PHE department since independence and laid stress on the need of speedy completion of the same on priority basis. Siddiqui in his address appeals the district administration to constitute a committee which will monitor the functioning of water lifting pumps of water lift scheme at shalimar in order to overcome the problem of water crisis till the completion of Naigad water project. He further added that there is complete loot of private water tanker who are charging Rs. 1800-2000 per tanker to the local masses and called for fixing of Rates in order to provide relief to the masses.
