Udhampur, July 3: As the state is suffering from water crisis, the precious resource is being wasted by the Public Health Engineering (PHE) authorities here without anyone to question them.
The Bariyal (miya bag )Airforce Water-Point of PHE is habitual in wasting water. One can see water flowing from the said water-point and going down the drains.
It is pertinent to mention here that every day we find people protesting at different places in our State demanding proper water supply but when water is wasted like this, it becomes a matter of concern.
This is going on in a district where at many places people are forced to consume water of streams (nalas) women travel miles to fetch potable water.
Babbu-a resident of Udhampur town told Early Times that the authorities at the helm of affairs should play their role honestly and stop such wastage.
During these rainy days water supply may remain affected in certain areas due to water-logging as the valves may get submerged in water.
People from village Lower Katwalt Tehsil Ramnagar said that they are forced to drink muddy water of rivulets as PHE has not yet provided them water supply facilities. |
