Once very powerful, 15 ex-OSDs idling in GAD
7/3/2018 10:58:06 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, July 3: Being officers on special duty (OSDs) in past and very powerful among KAS officers' fraternity, at least 15 officers are nowadays waiting for General Administration Department's 'verdict' regarding their new place of posting. However, several are desperate to go the departments they have served as OSDs.
Since, June 22, 2018, two days after collapse of PDP-BJP government in state, these officers have been attached with GAD. "Some of them had made fortune in couple of years and became millionaires during their posting as OSD", said a KAS officer, seeking anonymity and added that some of them (OSD) even disregarded their seniors from parent departments.
"Apart from the legislature from both parties i.e. PDP-BJP, who were inducted in cabinet, some OSDs are more worried after coalition government's end in state on June 19", they said and added, it was hoped by the KAS officers that the OSDs, who indulged into mass corruption and were in limelight might face tough time in Governor Rule.
A senior officer, posted with Governor's advisor, said that the entire state government is focused over ongoing Shri Amarnath Yatra, but it is also true the black sheep are being identified. "It is not right time to say anything, but the Governor is himself aware about the mess created by some of the OSDs", he said and added there are some officers who had served with Kashmir-based minister are on the radar.
Meanwhile, another officer presently posted in the GAD said those who have extracted huge money while serving as OSDs, are nowadays in dilemma. "They are frustrated and trying to make a deal with GAD's officers, it has been learnt that some individuals have filed complaints with GAD as well as the anti-graft agencies", the officer said and added that they all must be posted in the department they have never served and also secret probe be ordered.
"If the Governor gives go ahead to his administration, at least five to seven ex-OSDs and officials of ministerial staff will be behind the bars with no time, and majority of black sheep are fed by PDP ministers and very fewer are from BJP side", they added.
"I on the behalf of entire dedicated KAS officers fraternity and citizen of state urge upon the Governor and his advisor be careful while posting the black sheep OSDs at new places", the officer advised the government.
