Bhambla, July 3: Wrestler Sanjay of Pargwal lifted 55th Annual Bhambla Dangal title by overpowering wrestler Ankit of Delhi in a tough bout that lasted for fifteen minutes in mud Akhara adjoining main market Bhambla in District Reasi,here today.
The Dangal was organized by the collaborated efforts of rural masses of Sadhoti, Bhagot Khalsa villages of the area, Transport union Bhambla and shopkeepers union under the technical support of Jammu & Kashmir wrestling Association
Winner of the main bout wrestler Sanjay of Jammu got rupees 4500/ as cash prize while runner up wrestler Ankit of Delhi got Rupees 2600/ by members of Dangal committee in presence of President JKWA who was the chief guest while Rajesh Baru Tehsildar Pouni was the guest of Honour.
Women wrestling was the main attraction of the Vishal Dangal wherein four wrestling bouts in women category were displayed in between women wrestlers Reenu of Jammu and Manisha of Delhi where Manisha of Delhi remain victorious and got an cash prize of 2100/ while Reenu the runner up got Rs 1100/ .
In another bout Geeta of Delhi overpowered by Swati of Jammu for the cash prize of 2100/. Kanchan of Jammu defeated by Jyoti of Haryana for the cash prize of 1500/.
Women wrestling was greatly applauded by the rural masses especially women folk who in thousands witnessed the event and expressed a deep sense of gratitude to the management of the event especially to Manager of the women wrestling team Sanjeev Kumar Sharma under whose volunteer efforts women wrestling is being explored in the rural and remotests areas through various awareness rallies in schools and vishal Dangals under his volunteer mission "Beti Bachaaoo Beti Padaaoo Beti ko Khiladi Bannaaoo". In all,more than 96 wrestling bouts were played in between the wrestlers hailing from different States viz. Haryana, Punjab,Delhi and from various districts of Jammu Province especially Jammu,Reasi, Udhampur, Kathua, Samba, Doda, Poonch.
