Ramban, July 3: In continuation to drive against drug peddlers, Ramban police today claimed to have arrested a drug peddler and recovered 70 kg kilogram poppy straw from his possession. Police spokesman said that a police party led by SHO Ramban Inspector Vijay Kotwal under the supervision of DYSP HQ Ramban Asgar Malik and under close supervision of Additional SP Ramban- Sanjay Parihar established a surprise naka near Shan palace Ramban on NH for checking and frisking of vehicles. "During checking and frisking, one vehicle bearing registration number JK18A-8068 which was on its way from Qazikund, Kashmir towards Jammu got intercepted on the said naka point", said spokesman.
Spokesman further said that on its search 70 kg of Poppy straw was recovered and person namely Fayaz Ahmed Bhat of village Qazikund (Churut) has been arrested, who also happens to be the driver of the vehicle.
In this regard a case under FIR NO 101/18 under section 8/15 of NDPS Act has been registered against the said person at Ramban police station and investigation has been geared up to ascertain the source and other persons involved in smuggling of narcotics. |
