Jammu, July 13: Canal Road police today claimed to have arrested a criminal and recovered one country made pistil along with one live cartridge from his possession.
Police spokesman said that police party from police post Canal Road today apprehended a notorious criminal and recovered one country made pistol (Desi Katta) and one live round.
"During random checking near Apna Dawa Bazar, Akhnoor Road, a pedestrian was intercepted who on seeing the police, tried to escape from the spot but police party chased him and apprehended him", said police spokesman.
He disclosed his identity as Tilak Raj alias Pappa of Gurah Brahmana, Akhnoor.
"On his personal checking, an illegal country made pistol (Desi Katta) alongwith one live cartridge was recovered from his possession which was supposed to be used in some criminal activity", said spokesman.
Accordingly, a case under FIR No. 72/2018 under section 3/25 Arms Act was registered at Nowabad police station and investigation has been started.
The arrest and recovery has been made by police team led by SI Sohan Singh, in-charge police post Canal Road Jammu in close coordination with Inspector Neeraj Bhagat, SHO Nowabad under the supervision of Pranav Mahajan, SDPO City West and Dr. Vinod Kumar, SP City North Jammu and overall supervision of Vivek Gupta, SSP Jammu. |
