Early Times Report

Srinagar, July 13: Leveling serious allegations of corruption against Sartaj Madni, maternal uncle of former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, the Peoples Democratic Party MLA Abid Ansari claimed that most of the contracts of government works in south Kashmir were allotted to his relatives and that Madni used to take commission even Rs 2000.
"Madni the "Mamaji" of Mehbooba Mufti was involved in corruption. Most of the contracts in south Kashmir were allotted to the relatives of Madni. He used to take commission of even Rs 2000," Abid Ansairi who is among the rebel leaders of PDP told this reporter.
Sartaj Madni, Mehbooba's maternal uncle, was appointed PDP vice-president for a second consecutive term in December 2017. He had also served as the deputy speaker of the Jammu & Kashmir assembly.
Ansari challenged Mehbooba Mufti to show her credibility by again being party president. "If Mehbooba has guts let party announce fresh presidential elections and we will see if she could retain her president position .We have worked for this party. Party is not Mehbooba's. Let she come forward for elections," he challenged.
The PDP leader further said that no one has power to expel him from the party. "Who is saying that I will be expelled? Let they expel me. I am not afraid at all. I would like to inform you that they cannot expel me from the party. I am even not the basic member of the party, how can they expel me"," the PDP MLA questioned.
Ansari further said that "Mehbooba should know that I am in the politics since Mehbooba use to walk wearing chapals with his father late Mufti Mohmmad Syed in the streets of Jammu".
He further claimed that Mehbooba is finished in South Kashmir. "If she had guts she would have been able to conduct Anantnag parliamentary elections. It is not necessary that the PDP leaders who met her after crumbling of government are with her. Let she first expel Sartaj Madni, Peerzada Mansoor, Wahid Para who have destroyed the party," he maintained.
Abid added as a true party man he wants the party should remove the black sheeps. "Our President is incapable now party must change the president and also remove those who have damaged the party," he suggested.
It is to mention here that Imran Ansari, who has publically criticized the party Thursday, said that let PDP take action whatever they want against him.
He had said that he has not decided whether to join any other party if he is sacked from the party.
"PDP and the government had off late been reduced to a family opera where the brothers, the uncles, the aunties and other relatives would play protagonist and to continue with such a party was not only useless but a humiliation too." He had said.
Reports have claimed that 14 party legislators including, Abid Ansari,Abdul Majeed Padroo, Mushtaq Shah, Haq Khan, Ashraf Mir, Noor Mohammad, Mohammad Yousuf Bhat, Rahim Rather, Shahid Tantary, Chowdhary Qamar Ali, Javaid Beigh, Mohammad Abbas Wani, are mulling to leave the PDP party.
