Army advise people against crowding encounter sites
7/18/2018 10:05:15 PM
The Army functionaries have sug
gested to people to stop pelting stones on the security forces and avoid crowding scenes of encounters between militants and security forces. The suggestion has been dished out on the situation that has risen in various parts of the valley. Apart from pelting stones on the Army protesters crowd the site of the encounter between militants and security forces with the purpose of creating escape routes for militants by distracting the attention of the troops. By clashing with the security forces which retaliate with gun fire in which some civilians get killed. This is what has happened in Shopian where three civilians were killed in retaliatory fire opened by the troops. And the police have told the Supreme Court there was no need for securing permission from the Government of India for investigation on the nature of the incident. Hence senior functionaries of the Army have advised people to stay away from the site of the encounters between militants and security forces as that could result in killings.
A senior army commander has appealed to the youth not to pelt stones on troops and stay away from areas, where operations are launched.
"I appeal youth and people of Kashmir that Indian army is your own army. Don't pelt stones on them and avoid roaming near encounter sites," General Officer Commanding (GoC) of Srinagar-based 15 Corps Lt General A K Bhat has said. .He said army doesn't bear any grudge against Kashmiris. "They are our own people and it is our duty to safeguard them". The GoC claimed that troops have been directed to exercise total restraint while dealing with any situation. "Our men fire only when there is threat to life or property.""Our main motive is to eliminate militancy through kinetic operations," he said. Stating that overall situation in north Kashmir is congenial; Lt Gen Bhat said there was less militant recruitment in north Kashmir as compared to south Kashmir.
The Army have appealed to the youth and people of north Kashmir to help army in making Kashmir a peaceful region. The Army functionaries have requested parents of youth to persuade their children to live a normal life and advise them not to take violent path or pick up arms. Army wants youth to prosper and live a dignified life," he said If the current situation is any guide mood of the people is full of anger and this may not help people, especially the restive youth, to heed the appeals from the Army fu nctionaries. They are dead set to emulate instructions received from across the LoC and act on the directions from Pakistan. Well Pakistan wants youth to pelt stones on the Army so that they retaliate with gun fire and Pakistan gets an opportunity to blame India for human rights violations. Violation of human rights in troubled Kashmir is invariably raked up by Islamabad at the UN General Assembly.
