| SPO gives shelter to drug smugglers! | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 18: An 'influential' Special Police Officer (SPO) posted in one of the police stations along the National Highway in one of districts of Jammu-Kathua-Samba (JKS) Range is allegedly giving shelter to the drug smugglers by supplying prior information to them about a raid.
According to police sources, the SPO has been posted in the said police station for more than last three years and has developed very good relations with drug smugglers and is also giving complete shelter to the drug smugglers in this area in lieu of monetary benefits.
If sources are to be believed, whenever police raid drug peddlers, the said SPO gives prior information to the drug smugglers before the raid so that they can leave the place before arrival of police team.
Sources claimed that the said SPO openly tells everybody that "no one can harm me" as he is very close to the brother of an ex-cabinet minister and he (brother of ex-cabinet minister) has managed his stay of over three years in the same police station despite various complaints."
The said SPO is so much influential that whosoever is the SHO he manages himself as 'Karyakhass' of the SHO of the police station, said sources.
The concerned Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of the district also launched drives against the drug smugglers and bovine smugglers soon after joining the district.
Sources said that many drug peddlers and bovine smugglers were arrested while some were also detained under Public Safety Act (PSA) by the said SSP of the district but the said SPO is working against the police department resulting damaging the image of senior police officers. |
