| Heavy fine imposed for violations on Shree Mata Vaishno Devi shrine track | | | Early Times Report
Katra, July 29: In order to check the overcharging and sale of unauthorized items on Shree Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine track, Jagdish Singh, Sub Divisional Magistrate Bhawan, along with SHO Bhawan Rajesh Sharma and enforcement staff of the shrine board conducted a surprise checking at Bhawan and various other places on the track up to Ardhkuwari. The team realised a fine of Rs 61,800/- from the defaulters for various violations including overcharging, sale of unauthorized and prohibited items, non display of rate lists etc. The erring shopkeepers were warned to refrain from unfair practices like overcharging and selling of unauthorized and banned items so that pilgrims visiting the holy shrine do not feel cheated and sanctity of the shrine area is maintained. During the checking, some items with tampered price were also seized for further necessary action.
It may be mentioned that Plastic carry bags and packaging in PET bottles has been banned in the shrine area. Some shops were found selling cold drinks packed in PET bottles for which heavy penalty was imposed. The SDM informed that such drives will continue to ensure a hassle free and memorable experience to the pilgrims visiting the world famous holy shrine. He further appealed to the pilgrims that any violation by the shopkeepers or other service providers be brought to the notice of the shrine board management so that action could be taken against the defaulters. |
