SSP makes fortune through illegal means
7/29/2018 11:42:16 PM
Early Times Report

JAMMU, July 29: A Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) heading one of the districts in Jammu region is not keeping any middle man to strike various deals with those who have to settle some issue in his area. Instead, he directly handles all such things himself.
Sources informed Early Times that the SSP doesn't involve other officers posted in the district in those jobs which involve income generation of any kind from unknown sources. He does it to keep his juniors on a tight leash.
"The SSP has developed a fool proof modus operandi in order to avoid any detection of his income generation sources by his subordinates or other senior officers in the department. The SSP takes help of few trusted private persons to execute his plans," said sources.
Sources said that the SSP is very close to a former minister, who paved the way for his posting as district police chief. The former minister had argued vociferously for the SSP's posting in the cabinet meeting and ultimately succeeded in getting the same.
"The SSP was posted in the district in the past also due to which his network in the area was already established. After assuming office, the SSP got into the act and now he leaves no stone unturned to earn money, but his ways and means to generate income is somewhat different from the set pattern as he hardly involves any officer of the department in striking such deals," said sources.
"The SSP through the medium of the former minister has created a network of private men who bring those persons from whom the profits could be made. The SSP then takes advantage of the matters and thus make quick bucks without any fuss," added sources.
Sources further said that the SSP often ask the SHOs to favour somebody if a matter is pending in police stations and to exert pressure on them he would cleverly tell that a deputation has come to meet him. Moreover, he would not even hesitate to use the excuse that the senior level officers are pressurizing to help so and so involved in a case.
"By using such tactics, the SSP has amassed a fortune without sharing it with anybody in the department and that too by keeping others in the dark. On one hand, the SSP is making quick bucks and on the other hand he is also keeping the former minister in good humour as the officer takes help of the politician's faithful persons to carry out his acts," said sources.
