Swachh Bharat Internship Programme concludes

JAMMU, July 29: As a part of ongoing Swachh Bharat Internship Programme, NCC Cadets of 2nd J&K Girls Batalion of Govt Women College Parade visited Chinore area.
A Nukkad Natak on Swachhta was presented at Govt Middle School Chinore today while stationary items and eatables were also distributed among the students. NCC cadets had adopted Chinore Village since June 15 under Swachh Bharat Internship Programme. Cadets visited the village many times since the start of the Abhiyan and put selfless efforts for making their adopted village clean and tidy. They contributed more than 100 hours of their active participation in various activities. On the closing ceremony of the Programme, College Principal Dr Hemla Agarwal appreciated the efforts of college students in getting registered in the internship programme. She also congratulated cadets for successful completion of the venture. Dr Hemla Agarwal said that the internship programme was launched by MHRD in \ association with Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen), for registered students of Higher Education institution for promotion of cleanliness by spending 100 hours in the village selected by the students in consultation with Nodal officer of college. Earlier, Nodal Officer of the College for Swachh Bharat Summer Internship Programme Lt Suman Lata informed about various activities performed by the cadets during the programme.
During 100 hours, NCC Girls cadets conducted door to door visit, carried out mass awareness rallies, Nukkad Nataks, wall paintings, compost pits, street and drain cleaning, waste collection, teaching school children and good health habits etc, Nodal Officer informed. NCC Cadet Tania Sharma alongwith other cadets exhorted upon the villagers to construct toilets and completely stop open defecation. Ex Sarpanch Sukhdev Singh Jamwal, General Secretary Muthi-Paloura Mandal Rajinder Singh Manhas, residents of Chinore village, staff members of Women College Parade and Middle School Chinore and students were also present on the occasion.
