| Let US show magnanimity in allowing India to clinch military deal with Russia | | | | With the growing ties be tween India and the US India's military deal with Russia may sourt the Delhi-Washington ties.Though the US is supporting India's cooperation which may prove vital for the US to contain terror but at the same time it has placed a rider on its military deal with Russia.India and the US on have signed a vital agreement on seamless exchange of military information - Communications, Compatibility and Security Agreement (COMCASA) - even as New Delhi is clear that it will "stay the course" in its military relations with Moscow.The purchase of state-of-the-art S-400 Russian air-defence missile system is at the heart of the threat of US sanctions against countries dealing with Moscow.Though the US has not identified India as military partner to Russia but it has stated that those countries which have any military agreement with Moscow the US may impose severe cut not only in military aid but it may affect the political ties also: External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Thursday met her Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov in Moscow where she is on a two-day visit to co-chair a key bilateral meeting and to hold talks with the Russian leadership to boost the strategic partnership.he has gone to Moscow to iron out any differences between India and Russia over arms deal.. Russia was on the mind of the US secretary of State and the Defence secretary when they had a meeting with their counterparts in New Delhi.In fact while Pakistan has been punished by the US by imposing a cut of 300 million dollars military aid for trying to maintain cordial ties with China and what seems to have irhed Washington is the way Pakistan was trying to warm up to Russia so that Moscow compensates the loss of the US military aid.Yes,India and Russia have been old friends and India should be indebted to Russia for trying to support New Delhi when the issue of Kashmir was raked up in the UN General Assembly.And it would be the US magnanimity if it does not end its ties with India in case New Delhi finalized the 400 dollar Russian air defence missle system. And after a long ti me the US has found a new friend in India and it should not lose India's support to the US against its war on terror.Once the US took a soliod stand on India's deal with Russia the US may lose the support of India as far as military and political support is concerned.This way the US is not act in a cringy way as to end growing ties with India and that too in the name of growing friendship between India and Russia.The US is a super power and Russia has lost that supremacy after the breakup of the Soviet Union.This way the American Government should not get scared if India finalises the 400 dollar Russian defence missile system because India will never u se it against the United States.This way let America show its grace and allow India to finalise its 400 dollar defence missile system deal with Russia. |
