| Commoner rescues trapped bird as wild life authorities appear helpless | | |

UDHAMPUR, Sept 30: A hawk caught over a tree top was rescued by a commoner in the presence of wild life authorities after the latter displayed helplessness.
Locals alerted wild life authorities today after they noticed a hawk hung at a tree top struggling to free itself at the busy Gole Market Udhampur
Some men from wild life department arrived but they were not equipped with the required training and tools needed for the job.
Sounding the situation and without losing time some local including Tara Chand climbed up the tree and he cut the thin stem over which the bird was trapped thereby freeing the bird who then flew away into the open skies.
It is pertinent to mention here that the hawk is a rare species of the endangered birds, who are on the verge of extinction.
When contacted Range Officer assured that next time whenever such incident happens, the personnel visiting from his department will be fully trained and equipped with necessary equipments to rescue the bird or animal in problem.
Meanwhile, the locals hailed the efforts of Tara Chand in showing presence of mind and displaying bravery in rescuing the bird. |
