Congress fails to get candidates | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 30: Claiming to give a tough fight to BJP in the next Lok Sabha and assembly elections in J&K, the faction ridden Congress has failed to even provide candidates in many seats in the ongoing civic bodies elections in Jammu region. The BJP, on the other hand, not only beat Congress in Kashmir Valley by giving candidate in terror infested South Kashmir but also fielded candidates in all most all wards in Jammu province. It is widely alleged that some state unit of leaders of Congress are deliberately supporting BJP by not fielding candidates at many places. Credible sources said that some Valley based senior Congress leadership were not interested to contest civic bodies elections so they took the whole exercise non-seriously resulting into unopposed elections of BJP candidates in many places. In the most of the civic bodies in Jammu province Congress is finding it difficult to get candidates. In Poonch municipality, Congress has failed to field candidates on all the seats. Party is contesting only on half of the seats. Similarly in Kishtwar party could not find candidates on five out of total 13 seats and party decided to support independent. In Nowshera municipal committee, Congress has managed to get only two candidates for 13 wards. Anu Bhasin, a BJP nominee, on Friday was declared unopposed as rival parties, including the Congress, failed to field any candidate against her. |
