| Absconder arrested by Police | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, Sept 30: An absconder accused of rape has been arrested by Rajouri police from Reasi district after specific intelligence information about his presence in Katra town.
The accused booked in 2017 under section 376 RPC was evading arrest since the lodging of the case by the victim.
The police said that Surinder Singh s/o Raghubir Singh resident of Teryath under Dharamshal police station in Rajouri district was booked by the police at Dharamshal police station and since then he was evading arrest.
Sources said recently Court has also issued arrest warrants against the accused under section 512CrPC and police was directed to produce the accused before the Court.
Yougal Manhas, SSP said that on Saturday police received information about the presence of the accused at Katra town in Reasi district and the concerned officers were directed to act promptly.
"Acting swiftly under the supervision of Master Popsy, ASP, Nowshera, police team from Taryath police post headed by Mohd Rafiq, in-charge police post was rushed to Katra and the accused was arrested from a hideout" said senior police officer. The police said the accused Surinder Singh has been brought to Rajouri after completing the legal formalities and has been lodged in the lock-up to be produced in the Court soon. |
