SHO strikes deal with tipper owners

Early Times Report

Jammu, Oct 2: An Inspector who has been posted as a Station House Officer (SHO) in a police station along the International Border (IB) in Jammu-Kathua-Samba (JKS) Range has struck a deal with tipper and dumper owners for not challaning their vehicles on the condition that they will provide him construction material free of cost for his under construction house.
According to sources, after assuming the charge of SHO in the said police station, he launched a drive against tippers and dumpers loaded with sand and other construction material and started challaning the vehicles.
"Soon after joining the police station, the SHO launched a massive drive against the tippers and dumpers with a motive", said sources.
Later, the SHO struck deal with the owners of the tippers and dumpers for not challaning their vehicles on the condition that they will provide construction material free of cost for his house which he is constructing at Bhagwati Nagar in Jammu district.
"After few days of the deal some tippers loaded with sand and other construction material reached Bhagwati Nagar area where the said SHO is constructing two buildings," said sources.
Sources further maintained that tippers carrying construction material reaching Jammu after covering distance more than 40 kilometres of distance has raised eyebrows of many. When the same construction material is available in Jammu, why is it being transported from other district after covering huge distance, asked sources.
"It is obvious that due to distance, the cost of carriage would be raised. Then why would the SHO go for the same material from other district at higher rates?" said sources, adding that it is crystal clear from the fact that SHO is taking favours from the tipper and dumper owners by misusing his official position.
