| Gandhi Jyanti celebrated at Mahanpur College | | | Early Times Report
BASOHLI, Oct 4: Gandhi Jayanti was celebrated with fervor, gaiety and great enthusiasm at Government Model Degree College Mahanpur. Dr. S P Verma, President Gandhi Global Family Jammu and Kashmir, a United Nations DPI affiliated Peace Organisation was the Chief Guest while Dr.Rakesh Gupta, a staunch Gandhian in practice and an eminent Professor was the Guest of Honour. The function was attended by a large number of persons besides students. The programme commenced with welcome address by the Principal of the College Dr Nutan Kumar Resutra who while extending formal welcome to the dignitaries and the guests said that Gandhi ji was not a person but an ideology that is prevalent in all times. The ideas of Gandhi ji were not only relevant in those times when he preached and propagated them but also in modern times and the times to come. He also emphasized that the thoughts of Mahatma Gandhi are more important in the context of today as there is widespread turmoil among different segments of the society and the teachings of tolerance and non violence need to be put to practice with more vigor and dedication. The students of the College presented cultural programme in which bhajans were recited by them. On this occasion, a painting competition was also organised in which students expressed their feelings of environment protection and Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan through the medium of colours. |
