Duplicity: Family members of PDP leaders contesting elections
10/4/2018 10:56:15 PM

Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 4: Dubious character of PDP has been exposed as family members of most of the senior leaders are contesting civic bodies elections in Jammu region. Officially the PDP has announced to 'protect' Article 35-A and to keep separatist and other anti-democracy forces of Kashmir Valley in good humour.
Rajesh Bhagat, Son of newly appointed general secretary of PDP F C Bhagat is contesting from ward number 68 of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC). Rajesh is supported by Panthers Party.
Similarly state secretary of PDP Rashid Malik and former Mayor and senior leader of the party leader Manmohan Choudhary have fielded their wives as party's proxy candidates for ward numbers 74 and 42 respectively of the JMC.
Rashid Malik is state secretary of the party and he is one of the prominent faces of PDP in Jammu region. Instead of boycotting elections to 'protect' Article 35-A, Rashid has fielded his wife in the JMC polls.
As far as Manmohan Choudhary is concerned, he was appointed as vice chairperson Jammu and Kashmir Medical Supply Corporation Limited from the quota of PDP, with MoS status at the cost of senior leaders. Singh is senior leader of the party but he too had fielded his wife from the ward from where he had won JMC elections in the year 2005 as Congress candidate and later became Mayor.
Although PDP has suspended its district president Poonch Hamid Manhas for contesting elections in Municipal Committee Surankote, proxy candidates have been fielded on all 17 wards of Poonch Municipal Council.
