Poonch, Oct 4: Long cherished dream of Poonch people to have filteration plants and pure drinking water may remain unfulfilled for ever sources said here today
They said the people of Poonch as a whole have been drinking contaminated water for years together as there was no filtration plant available in the district. Many administrators came and went away with the time but nobody's attention was brought towards the grave situation
The PHE department stores water in reservoirs from natural resources and supplies in the same manner to inhabitants through taps. At no stage the water is purified by the department before it is supplied and people get sick often due to contaminated water and fall prey to various water borne infections sources added.
It is pertinent to mention that all the four sub division of district which include Poonch, Mandi, Surankote and Mendhar require one water filtration plant each so that purified water can be supplied to the people Government must take serious note of it because it was the dire need of the hour
Meanwhile Mendhar youth club chairman advocate Nadeem Khan has urged the Governor SP Malik to pay a kind attention to the demand of people of Poonch district and direct the PHE department to install water filtration plants, he added. |
