FCS&CA reactivates Joint Squads for inspection of Petrol Pumps

JAMMU, OCTOBER 05: Directorate of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs today decided to re-activate Petrol Pump Joint Inspection Squads here at a meeting chaired by Director Amit Sharma.

The meeting was attended by officers of major oil companies, traffic police, crime branch and legal Metrology officers.

According to the FCS&CA spokesperson, earlier, such squads were functioning but off-late, this activity had almost come to a standstill here.

The Director informed that the department has a prime responsibility in its capacity as a custodian of Consumer Rights and accordingly, an Action Plan was discussed and finalized relating to implementation of High Court directions regarding checking and inspection of Petrol Pumps for ensuring purity and stoppage of all kinds of adulteration in this sector, the spokesperson said.

“After brainstorming session a consensus was arrived at on creation of a whatsapp Group of all stakeholders for live monitoring and coordination of these Joint Inspection Drives alongwith three Mobile Testing Lab of Oil Companies, Creation and Re-activation of Monthly Roster of Officers of different departments for the Regular Daily Drives, Conduct of Surprise and Routine Inspection of Petrol Pumps located across all length and breadth of all ten districts of Jammu Division” the spokesperson informed.

It was also decided that the 24x7x365 grievance redressal contact numbers of various Oil Companies, FCS&CA Department, Legal Metrology Department, Crime Branch shall be widely circulated. The Director FCS&CA assured that lot of checks and balances shall be put into place in the coming days to ensure total purity, transparency and functioning of Petrol Pumps in entire Jammu Division.

Those present in the meeting were HPCL Coordinator DGM Retail, Krishan Lal, Additional SP Traffic PrabhuDayal Sharma, DySP Crime Branch Nihar Ranjan, Joint Controller Legal Metrology V.K Sambyal and Deputy Director Supplies FCS&CA Joginder Jasrotia.
