Health scenario in Poonch deteriorates
10/7/2018 10:26:42 PM
Early Times Report
Poonch, Oct 7: Government centres in the border belt which were supposed to remain open 24x7 have been found usually closed during night hours giving a experience to the gullible public of far flung areas to face tough time during any emergency sources said here today.
Primary Health centres in entire district are well equipped and facilitated with all the clinical tests , laboratories, xrays and medicines for the people living in far flung border areas. These centres have been provided with adequate staff to work round the clock but on the ground nothing like that its is the sight , because these PHCS remain closed and the lackadaisical approach of the staff worsens the situation further.
Locals alleged that the staff of these PHCs prefer to be attached than to serve the people. Despite ban imposed by the Governor on the attachment of Government employees the practice in health department continues to go on.
Locals have exposed grave concern over the deteriorating scenario of health care in this border district where people have to face many problems due to its topography . Border skirmishes and non availability of other facilities further worsens the situation.
While talking to Early Times retired Chief Medical Officer Mohd. Younis said that PHCS were surprised to remain open 24x7 to facilitate the border people.
Government has provided all the basic facilities to these PHCs so that people can get better health care at their doorsteps. But pathectic approach of the staff and the department as whole puts a question on the way they are working , he added.
Meanwhile social worker , MR kazafi has urged the Director Health services Jammu to take the measure to improve the worst condition of Primary Health Centres of district and cancel all the attachments of the health staff and let them be posted at their respective PHC for the service of the public, he added.
