Early Times Report

Vijaypur, Oct 7: The claims of State Government of good governance are proving mere hoax for the people as the post of Block Development Officer (BDO) at Vijaypur of District Samba is lying vacant for the past two months ever since the transfer of the incumbent officer; further, the Section Officer in the office has also been deployed at Directorate of RDD for upcoming panchayat elections making it totally dysfunctional.
Sources told Early Times that the official work in the BDO Office has totally stopped with no presence of main officials in the office due to which the people are facing huge problems to get their work done but concerned ACD Samba gave weird reply by saying that what to talk of Government departments even India Army has been facing shortage of the officers.
"Although the administration has given the additional charge of the office to BDO Nad just 10 day ago but he hardly devotes time in the office and stays there only for couple of hours" locals said further adding that in absence of the BDO, the Section Officer used to take care of official business to some extent but after his deployment at Director RDD Office Jammu for upcoming panchayat elections, the entire functioning in the BDO office has crumbled. There are around 17 panchayats under Vijaypur Block and hundreds of the people visit the office daily, but have to return empty handed.
The local people including Soni Sharma PDP youth leader, Babbal Gupta Congress leader, Avinash Choudhary Social Activist have expressed strong resentment against the Government for ignoring problems of the people at the grass root level. They alleged that the numbers of the government schemes particularly central schemes are not being executed due to vacant post of the BDO.
Giving reply to the question of non availability of BDO at Vijaypur, the concerned ACD Aijaz Kesar said that there is acute shortage of officials in the department. He further said that what to talk of Government departments even Indian Army has been facing huge shortage of officers. He refuted the report of deployment of SO in director's office.
