54 bovine animals rescued, 3 smugglers arrested
Major bovine smuggling bid foiled

RAMBAN, Oct 21: In continuation to its special drive against the menace of bovine smuggling launched on the directions of Anita Sharma-SSP Ramban, today a police party led by Inspector Vijay Kotwal-SHO Ramban under supervision of Asgar Malik-DySP HQ Ramban and under close supervision of Sanjay Parihar-Additional SP established a surprise naka near Shan palace, Ramban.
"During checking, 3 vehicles bearing registration numbers JK14B-8772, JK19-4414 (trucks) & JK19-6453 (Tata Mobile) got intercepted and on search all the above said vehicles found loaded with bovine animals", said spokesman adding that total 54 bovine animals have been rescued and all the vehicles have been seized.
Three suspected bovine smugglers namely Azad Ahmed of Chenani , Dev Raj of Kehri Udhmpur and Mohd Aslam of Bati Maitra, have been taken into custody.
On questioning, the suspected persons revealed that they were trying to smuggle the bovine animals towards Kashmir without seeking permission from the concerned authorities.
In this regard cases under FIR Nos. 170/18, 171/18 and 172/18 under sections 188 of RPC and 3 PCA Act got registered at Police Station Ramban and investigation taken up.
