Early Times Report
srinagar, Oct 21: A day after the election results of municipal polls were announced across the state poaching of candidates has begun with respect to the 13 seats of Municipal Committee, Kishtwar.
The poaching assumed significance since the NC backed independents managed to win seven seats out of 13 seats while BJP manage to win only one seat while Congress manage to win two seats and PDP backed independents manage to win two seats and the other seat won by yet another independent.
As per the details available with Early Times horse trading and poaching of independents has begun and during late night hectic parleys had begun to rope in some candidates. NC backed independent who defeated BJP candidate switched over to PDP camp while as the party also lost the assured support of another independent candidate. Congress party has emerged as a key player in choosing the next President for Kishtwar Municipal Committee.
Congress sources told Early Times that one among the 10 independents had approached them for joining the party as Congress party has extended support to the said candidate and if claims of Congress party found to be true, the Congress party tally will increase to three and with five rock solid candidates, NC and Congress combine can sale easily towards the majority in Kishtwar Municipal Committee.
A senior PDP leader claimed that they have the number for staking the claim for the post of the President Municipal Committee Kishtwar adding that the only hiccup is to choose the right candidate for the President post for which the deliberations were on.
Sources said that top rank NC leaders are in touch with senior Congress party leaders for seeking the support of Congress party so that the NC could manage to stake the claim for the President Post. However on the other side, the PDP backed candidates tally has increased from two to four with one seat of BJP and another independent candidate is playing wait and watch before he switch his loyalty towards powerful camp.
