Emergence of Third Front leaves NC, PDP worried
Both camps busy holding meetings to avoid possible coup
10/21/2018 11:15:31 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 21: The emergence of third front in the state is proving a worrisome development for the National Conference and the PDP with both the camps racking their brains to foil any such process.
As per the reports, Peoples Conference Chairman and MLA Sajad Lone is striving hard to make the 3rd front a living reality in Kashmir with some rebels from NC as well as from the PDP wangling their ways into the corridor.
It is being widely speculated that the front shall emerge as the kingmaker for the state’s political landscape holding keys to the government formation in the future.
If reports are to be believed, the front is confabulating to stake claim for the formation of the government with the support of the BJP. Sajad Lone is being projected as the chief ministerial candidate by the front, as per the insiders account.
On October 20, when counting for the ULB polls in state was in full swing at Srinagar SKICC, PDP rebel Imran Ansari, NC’s former spokesman Junaid Matoo and Sajad lone were seen together, celebrating the victory and claiming that the next mayor will be chosen by them only. It was the first show of strength done by the front since the coalition of BJP and PDP was broken on June 19, this year.
There are also reports coming to fore that if polls for assembly aren’t announced anytime soon by the central government, the group may stake claim for the formation of the government in the state.
Pertinently, on October 9, this year, former PDP leader and Minister Imran Ansari stated that the new third front in the state will be led by Peoples Conference Chairman Sajad Gani Lone.
“The new alliance will rally around Sajjad Lone. We have like-minded people who, when the time comes, will come out in support of the third front. Right now, we might be three MLAs but I assure you when the times comes we will have 23,” Ansari had said in an interview.
He had this to say further: “There will be only one face in the third front,” Ansari said to HPI, when asked who would serve as the third front’s chief minister. “That will be of Sajjad Gani Lone”.
There are also reports that both the NC as well as the PDP have begun rigorous meetings with their workers and functionaries so that to stop them from getting lured by the emergence of third front in the state. “These things among the power corridors are widely being discussed that the third front will form the government. The is the reason that many leaders are wishing to join it and reap the benefits of being in a government,” says a parry functionary from NC.
He added that in order to foil any defection within the party, tight vigil is being adopted and measures vital to keep the camp intact are being taken on priority.
Same is the case with the PDP which is also worried over the third front and its probable plan to lure the leaders from the party.
Whether such a development is witnessed in the state’s political landscape or not continues to remain a mystery. So far the news is proving enough to steal a good night sleep of the two regional parties of the state.
