Fire tenders reach without water; probe oredered

MENDHAR, Oct 29: Eight residential houses, five belonging to as many brothers, in the fire incident at Dogrian, Bufliaz area of Surankote in Poonch district, reports said and locals alleged that the Fire tenders reached on the spot without sufficient water to control the flames. Locals told that the fire erupted at around 1:00 AM and engulfed the adjoining houses. The residential houses which were gutted completely include that of Waliyat Khan, Adalat Khan, Adayat Khan, Ayoib Khan and Younis Khan sons of Lal Hussain and Mohd Sharief Khan, Qayoom Khan, Marouf Khan sons of Khadam Hussain Khan. They also said that the goods purchased by the Waliyat Khan for the wedding of her daughter were also gutted in the fire. They alleged that after being informed well in time, the fire tenders reached the spot without sufficient water to douse off the flames.
SDM Surankote Mohammad Saleem Qureshi said that inquiry was ordered over the allegations made by the locals. If the allegations turned true, appropriate action will be taken against the concerned employees of the fire and emergency department.
