Early Times Report

kathua, Oct 29: In what could be termed as nonchalant approach of the officials, the major development projects announced for Kathua city during the District Development Board (DDBs) meeting are still not initiated or still in oblivion.
Sources informed Early Times that the major projects including Development of Model Inter State Bus Terminal (ISBT), Development of Amusement Park, construction of Auditorium at Degree College Kathua, Shifting/ relocation of existing DC office at District Sheep Husbandry office complex Kathua were announced for Kathua city but ironically lapse of more than two years, most of the projects are still in papers and yet to see daylight.
Sources further said that during the DDB meeting, the local MLA, Rajeev Jasrotia had raised the issue of incomplete ISBT in Kathua, thereafter the chairperson of the meeting asked the Urban Development Department to complete the project as soon as possible but after lapse of sufficient times, the project is still hampering due to paucity of funds. "Another development issues the development of Amusement Park, regarding this, the department of floriculture had asked to DDB that the land measuring 80 Kanals comprising of Khasra No. 1354 situated at village Taraf Manjali have been identified. A committee of Assistant Commissioner (Revenue), Dy. Director Floriculture, Chief Executive Officer Municipal Council Kathua and Tehsildar Kathua has been constituted for transfer of land to Director Floriculture Jammu but the has not been transferred so far and the project is still lingering on", informed sources.
During the same meeting, the an auditorium would be constructed with worth of 1313.15 Lacs at Degree College Kathua and in this regard, a Detail Project Report (DPR) was formulated by JKPCC which is under the active consideration of Economic Re-construction Agency for approval/ funding but unfortunately nothing has been so far it.
Another source said that the issue of shifting of existing DC office at District Sheep Husbandry office complex kathua was also announced by DDB meeting held on 19.05.2016 but the DC office, Kathua is still running on its same place and alleged that if the DDB meeting resolutions have not implemented in letter and spirit which shows the resolution are merely a rhetoric.
