Early Times Report
BHADERWAH, Oct 29: Cracking down on encroachers, a team headed by Divisional Forest Officer, Bhaderwah Khalid Metha , along with Range Officer, Bhalessa , Sameer Rishu and other field functionaries under the over all supervision of CF Chenab circle T B Singh vacated 11 Kanal of the forest land encroached by some people in compartment 3/K of Bhalessa Forest Range.
The encroachment was removed by Forest team who immediately swung into action when informed received of encroachment and started eviction proceedings under Section 6(b),(f), Sec.6(A) and 48(A) of J&K Forest Act 1987 AD and vacated the 10 kanal Forest land.
A Pacca wall and fencing was also dismantled on the same land, which was illegally constructed on the Forest land. C F Chenab circle Doda T B Singh briefed that Forest Department is very serious regarding such encroachment on forest land and it will take stringent action regarding illegal activities on forest resources. He also informed that fencing was also erected at the spot to protect the land from land-grabbers who are quite active in Bhalessa and other parts of Bhaderwah division and target forest and government land."The anti-encroachment drive will continue in other areas.
The field staff has been directed to ensure strict vigil in the area to prevent any further encroachment," said T B Singh. It is pertinent to mention that though special drives are being conducted by the Forest Department routinely, it has minimal effect as a majority of the people have strong political backing and defy the rules openly. The land-grabbers have also shown strong resistance during the operations and have attacked forest officials in the past, creating a huge law and order problem.
